Anti-God Programming
When I began sharing about Jesus, the level of insults I received shocked me. ‘’Christians are stupid,’’ ‘’you’ve been brainwashed,’’ ‘’you’re living in an echo chamber,’’ ‘’you’ve joined a cult.’’ I’ve written about many subjects that would be deemed as controversial, but have never experienced the level of insults that I have when I write about Christianity.
I think I knew deep down that this would happen, as I recognised at first that I was holding myself back, that I felt like I couldn’t say what I needed to say, but after a while I got over it, and dived right in,
As I received these comments, I kept asking myself, why? I knew I hadn’t lost my mind. I knew I hadn’t become a Christian, because I was fearful and insecure and needed to believe in a fantasy god to cope with life. So, why did so many people (who only know me online), seem completely convinced that I had?
One thing that began to be clear about some of the comments I was receiving is that they all sounded very similar to each other. ‘’Christianity is just man-made religion,’’ ‘’it’s all about control.’’
Now there’s one thing I learnt about phrases, and where they come from. In the pre-Covid years I was quite active on Twitter, raising awareness of the harms of cervical screening - unnecessary ‘preventative’ treatment, that doesn’t save lives, and often leads to life-long trauma and injury. I’d always get comments on my posts by people saying, ‘’but cervical screening saves lives,’’ and they always worded their comments in pretty much the exact same way. Then I’d read pro-screening articles in the media, and on TV, and see that they used this same phrase, over and over again, ‘cervical screening save lives.’’
We’ve seen it in the last few years with the vaccine propaganda, phrases are repeated over and over in the media, and then parotted back by those who consume it. People will argue, saying, ‘the vaccine is safe and effective,’ and ‘vaccines save lives,’ and it’s pretty easy to tell that they are not thinking for themselves, because the phrases they use are not individual to their own thought process, but have been picked up by the media.
Now, what’s this got to do with Christianity? Well, in many cases I don’t think people’s objections to Christianity are their own. Don’t get me wrong, many people do have bad experiences with organised religion. Horrendous and barbaric things have been by so-called Christians. I can understand that it would put people off. However, there is nevertheless an element of media brainwashing that has formed some people’s perceptions of Christianity. I know because that was the case for me, and I know I’m not the only one.
I dismissed Christianity, I judged it, I had formed a perception of it, that was not based on reality, but on what I now understand to be media programming. And it was that perception of it that made me hesitate to share what I believed to be the truth, because I knew that Christianity isn’t cool or fashionable.
A few weeks ago I started to ask myself, where does this perception come from? It has to have been implanted from somewhere, because people like myself form their perception of Christianity without ever having set foot in a church - or maybe just for some Christmas carols.
I asked around, and did a bit of googling, and began to form a list of shows and movies that mock or joke about Christianity in a way that portrays the belief system in a negative light.
Have you ever watched, The Simpsons, The Gilmore Girls, Family Guy, Good Omens, The Untouchables? These are just a few.
If so then you have likely been a victim of anti-Christian propaganda.
Take one example of this clip from the comedy show Absolutely Fabulous. A woman from an over-the-top American church, asks her how Jesus came to her,
‘’How did Jesus come to you, did he come from the side, did he come from above?’’
‘’He came more from the diagonal’’
‘’Oh that’s a big word for you’’
‘’What did he look like?’’
‘’Like, Jesus.’’
This is one example, from a myriad of programming, series upon series, year upon year to create the impression that Christians are stupid, and it’s okay to laugh at them.
And yet there is good evidence to suggest that Jesus really was the son of God, (not an ‘ascended master’ an avatar, or any of the other, more fashionable twists to the tale), and that he really did rise from the dead. Yet it is hard to talk evidence and facts when there is a knee-jerk dismissal as soon as the name Jesus is mentioned.
But that’s what brainwashing does. It programmes people to give knee-jerk responses so that they are not actually thinking.
The thing is, the ‘awake’ community, those who have called out the media brainwashing the last couple of years, are in fact, the victim of a mass campaign of anti-God brainwashing. That was terrifying and shocking for me to realise, that so-called ‘free-thinkers’ were in fact just as brainwashed as those who went along with all the COVID restrictions.
I don’t write this to judge, I was brainwashed too. I write it because it breaks my heart, that people thinking they have ‘woken up’ to the deception of this world but are in fact waking inside another dream, another layer, another fantasy to disentangle.
So many people can see the Satanic imagery in our movies and music, but won’t consider for a second that Jesus, the enemy of Satan might exist too.
That’s brainwashing for you.
If you don’t believe me, spend a week watching Netflix series and note down any references to Christianity and whether they shine it in a positive or negative light.
The amazing thing is that the Bible predicts all this, (of course), Jesus said, ‘’You will be hated by all because of My name.’ But we are to rejoice, because “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.’
