The Difference With The Holy Spirit
It’s a common belief that if you take a concept from one spiritual belief system then it might have another name to describe the same concept in a different belief system. And that all of these belief systems are just slightly different slants on the essence of the truth of our spiritual reality.
Take for example the Christian concept of the Holy Spirit. Perhaps some might think that it is another word for Christ consciousness, God consciousness or the divine spark in us all. Perhaps it’s another word for chi, prana or Kundalini energy.
However, it is actually a different thing, and there is a little experiment anyone reading this with a phone in their hand can do.
Find a copy of the Bible and start reading. Maybe at the beginning of the Old Testament, maybe at the beginning of the New, for this experiment it doesn’t really matter. Does what you are reading spark interest and leave you wanting to read more and more, or does it seem impenetrable, hard to understand and like the dullest thing you’ve ever come across?
If it’s the first response, then chances are you are filled with the Holy Spirit. If it’s the second then it’s most likely impossible that you are not.
The thing is that no amount of awakening your chi, prana or allowing the Kundalini serpent to uncoil is ever going to give you a hunger to read the Bible, whereas the Holy Spirit itself will make a seemingly boring book come alive. In the Bible it actually says that we need the Holy Spirit to read it,
‘But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.’
This post may trigger some and sound superior as if it as a judgment of those who are filled with the spirit or not. However being filled with Holy Spirit isn’t something that takes hours of spiritual development to achieve. It’s not a sign that someone is more ‘spiritually advanced’ than another. All it takes is an openness, a willingness to invite Jesus into your life, and a belief that he really is the son of God, that he really died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. It can happen in an instant. Though for me it was most definitely a gradual process, of approaching the Bible with curiosity, finding it bored me to sleep every night, and then little by little finding I actually get excited about reading it each night.
If you would like some simple prayers that you can say to begin the journey to invite Jesus into your life and be filled with the Holy Spirit then send me a pm and I will forward them on (I’m working on a longer post on that but it’s not quite ready yet).
