Escape From The Rabbit Holes
Yesterday I listened to a podcast about being ‘black-pilled,’ a definition that the two hosts used to describe people who wake up to what’s going on in the world and then become excessively negative, focused on the doom and gloom of the situation.
It reminded me of the first few months of Covid lockdown 2020, after endless rabbit holes I was looking for hope. I remembered how I’d always been hopeful and positive about the future, even in difficult times, but with the weight of what was going on in the world it felt impossible.
I wrote a post asking people what keeps them hopeful. It was through this post that I was introduced to the idea of ‘the great awakening,’ that what is happening on a spiritual level is a raising in vibration as we ascend into ‘’5D consciousness.’ I started on my breadcrumb trail of psychics, and spiritual teachers who said that everything was going to be alright, it would be more than alright, it would be heaven on earth.
Over time my truth radar began to question. Why were all the psychics saying different things? Why did they get some things right and some things wrong? Some of them mentioned the ‘mark of the beast,’ one used Bible quotes, and it got me curious to actually read the Bible.
I read the Bible as if it was just another spiritual source to incorporate in my world view, a bit like mixing up a cake with a bunch of exotic ingredients. However as I read and learnt more about the Bible I realised that to try to mix it with other spiritual world views was like trying to incorporate oil and water. The Bible says we have one life, and we can be forgiven for all our sins by believing in Jesus. Most of the spiritual teachers I listened to believed in Karma and reincarnation, an endless cycle as we try to live out our lessons, and grow and ascend.
In the podcast I listened to yesterday the solution to avoid getting ‘black-pilled’ is to keep doing the work, to keep healing personal trauma so that we don’t get stuck in the negativity.
There is some truth in this, that we need to heal our pain, and develop self-awareness so that we know when we are getting stuck in negative thinking that does us good.
However, this narrative is missing the best news. Jesus came to heal us, to carry our burdens. Jesus came to set us free, to forgive us of everything past, present and future, to carry our trauma and pain and sin from the past.
Well-meaning, compassionate, intelligent people like the hosts of this podcast are being led to get caught up in an endless cycle of trauma healing, and encourage others to do the same when Jesus is standing at the door, ready to be invited in.
Not the new age Christ consciousness within us all. Not the Muslim prophet of the Hindu avatar. Isn’t it funny how so many different belief systems have to attempt to incorporate Jesus into their story. But oil and water do not mix.
The Biblical Jesus is the Son of God, who rose from the dead in physical form. He died to give us life, but most people reject him, or are lulled into fairy tales about how we are all as good as Jesus, minimising his gift of dying for us to offer us eternal life.
I am so grateful to friends who walked the path before me who could lead me away from the lies of ‘the fake awakening,’ to the real awakening that happens when we are born again with Christ living in us.
Because while the enemy loves to tell us we are all already Christ, in the form of our consciousness there is a real Son of God Jesus who is just waiting to dwell in us, if we only believe.
‘If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.’- Romans 8.11
I’ve heard this described as being ‘white-pilled’ although I’m not really for all this talk about different coloured pills. We are not in a Matrix. That’s a Hollywood lie to prevent us from seeing that we are in God’s creation, that once was Eden, and will be again, for all those who believe.
