The Darker Side Of Following Our Dreams
Can you imagine if every time you reached for a mug, or a tissue or a fizzy drink you were bombarded with messages like;
Jesus Loves You
Jesus Is The Only Way
Follow Jesus
If you are not a follower of Jesus you would most likely be infuriated by all the Bible bashers and God botherers taking over the marketing world, pushing their message on every little item they could get their hands on.
People frequently get annoyed with me for preaching just within the boundaries of my own personal facebook page. Yet there’s another movement that’s plastering its message absolutely everywhere, and most people don’t even notice.
It might not look like a movement, but that’s the trick. It sells the freedom and liberation to do what you want, to follow your dreams, and it sells that as the key to happiness. It’s all about being spiritual not religious, but delve deeper and it becomes clear that it is a religion, disguised as ‘individual paths.’
Do you know the name of the religion that has doing what you want as its key principle?
It’s called Satanism.
It is being pushed anywhere and everywhere, on tissues, notebooks, mugs, in magazines, in music and movies. Aleistair Crowley the founder of Satanism said, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law."
It’s being pushed in its ‘lite’ form, of innocuous messages, made to look like happiness and freedom. It’s being pushed as a ‘new age’ pic n mix of different religious concepts, such as Karma, and ‘inner peace,’ and it’s all being twisted to achieve one aim; to lead you from false light, into darkness.
In one of my previous posts, ‘The Myth Of I Want’ I shared why doing what we want is not actually the key to happiness. It may look like liberation, but it actually puts us in deep spiritual bondage.
You might think these slogans are no big deal, and maybe they wouldn’t be if there are one or two. But look at the way products are being marketed and you will see that these messages are everywhere. Once you see it, you can’t unsee the subliminal messaging that is everywhere. Satan is the god of this world.
Alisa Childers is author of the book ‘Live Your Truth And Other Lies: Exposing Popular Myths That Make Us Anxious, Exhausted, And Self-Obsessed.’ She explains more about how these little upbeat slogans actually cause great suffering to us.
The great dreamer, the great creator of this world, has a dream, and a vision for us. Cutting off our safe anchor, and floating free on a sea of fleeting desires, will only give us temporary pleasure, and eternal pain. We can call out for help and the anchor will be thrown down instantly, the clarity will be found, and the path made clear. The one who dreamed us into being can lead us to joy.
‘But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.’ Timothy 2:3
